Ever since I began blogging almost three years ago, one of the things that really captures my eye when finding new blogs to read are the photos. I sit here night after night swooning over the creativity I see in the pictures that are shared on the blogs of others.
I am not a photographer, let alone a taker of pictures. I don’t have an eye to see in the way others do in order to get the perfect shot. Unashamedly, 90% of the photos I use on my blog are stock photos. Did I really just admit that? I think I read somewhere that the use of stock photos is a “no no” in blogging. But oh well. It’s my blog and I do what I have to to make it pretty. I hope you don’t mind.
I came across this photo challenge and I thought it would be a great attempt to try to capture beauty, learning to see “outside the box”. I want to learn to see differently, and part of the seeing is in the stopping to take notice. I’ve never done anything like this before. Oh yes, I’ve tried…and failed. But I am excited about the possibility of seeing this one through.
So, I am joining in MarchPhotoADay Challenge. I would love for you to join me.
Here’s how to play:
- Starting on March 1st take a photo each day with inspiration from the prompt. For example prompt 1 is ‘up’, so take a photo looking up. Or of the word ‘up’. Or something that lifts your mood ‘up’. It it totally up to you how you want to interpret it.
- Once you’ve taken your photo you can share it on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, your blog, Pinterest, Tumblr or even just keep them in a folder on your desktop. If you’re sharing on Twitter or Instagram add the hashtag #Marchphotoaday so others can find your photos too.
I will be taking all of my photos with my iPhone, as I do not own a camera! I will not be looking for perfection in my photos, but rather “seeing differently”. All of my photos will be posted on Instagram. If you have an iPhone, you can find me there at “barbieswihart”. You don’t own an iPhone? Do not despair. You can still link up with me here every Thursday as we share are March photos.
Doesn’t this sound like fun? I may be the only one on board, but I am going to do this. I hope you will consider joining me.
