My daughter,
What is this talk about hiding in a corner? You say you don’t like to be among the crowd, to be seen, but deep down inside, you are longing to be seen. When you were a child, do you remember playing hide-and-seek? You were always the one seeking after others. Others longing to be found. Wanting to be seen.
At times you’ve been misunderstood, left alone or not included. You feel as if you don’t belong. You could be in a room filled with people and still feel as if no one truly sees you. But I see you there, restless in your chair, cradling that cup of warm tea in your hands. Your eyes meet mine, and then turn away. You are longing to be seen, yet you are afraid to be seen. Why do you fear being accepted for who you really are? My eyes peer deeply into your soul. And what I see is beautiful. What I see is good. What I see deserves to be seen by others.
“She gave this name to the LORD who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.” (Genesis 16:13)
Whenever you feel alone, I want you to remember that I am the God who sees you.

Barbie, I can so relate to the feelings described here. I’m oddly an outgoing type of person, yet there are many times when I’ll sit in a room full of people that are friends and feel the only time they see me is when they’re judging me. It’s weird. This was beautiful. Thank you.
Oh Rosann, I struggle with those same issues. Always feel as if people are looking at me with judgment and not acceptance. May God deliver us from this false identity and clothe us in His truth!
Oh Barbie! You have NO idea how much I relate to this post. I actually wrote one at the start of the year, on this very topic (http://belovedpursuit.com/2012/01/29/chatting/). To hear/see that I’m not alone in this struggle of finding balance between wanting to be seen and fear of being seen, so uplifts my soul. These are words I need to read…like daily.
Love this post today; and I really needed it. Living in a country away from all of my friends, but being part of a mums/toddler group where I don’t feel like one of the group, this speaks to me so much! Thanks for writing it.
Thanks for stopping by Jennifer. I am grateful God uses these words to speak to you.
that passage about hagar and God revealing Himself as the One who Sees is one of my favorites.
Mine too Charis!
Barbie, I love this post and your 31 Day theme so much! I will be back every day, hearing from Him is such an important part of our day. Thanks for doing this!

Loving your series….loving it.
Thank you my dear friend. I am loving writing and watching it unfold.
So agree. We do all want to be seen and noticed.
Yes, I wish it was something I didn’t desire. I want to keep my eyes on the One who sees me always! Thanks for stopping by Susan!
Thank you very much. This truly resonated with me. You’ve blessed me.
Sophia
So grateful you stopped by Sophia, and thankful His words touched your heart!
Barbie, you are a beautiful writer! I’m seeing a published book in your future!
Wow Lea, that is such a compliment. But one I take as confirmation of something God is already putting in my heart!
Thank you Susie! May His words continue to speak to your heart.
So grateful for your visits. I pray your heart is continually blessed!
