Introducing Simple Opulence: {Sponsor Post}

At Simple Opulence, I write with the purpose of encouraging, uplifting, informing, and inspiring anyone who would take the time out of their busy day to read a post or two. The written works I enjoy most are penned by people who are transparent, real, and humorous. This is what I will mirror for my readers. If I can’t be real, I won’t write. If I can’t be humorous, I won’t write.I’ve read many blogs from a cultural perspective that I have felt have a tendency to alienate before they have a chance to create community or educate. I want to write from my varied cultural and social perspectives, while inviting my readers to view things from a different vantage point. While not everything I write will carry this marker, my goal is to have this be a cornerstone of what do.

I am attempting to run my blog and my businesses (you can find these links here and here if you want to check them out), while juggling being a quality wife, mother and everything else. I want to be a mogul like Martha Stewart, I think. I want to minister to those looking to find their way in life. I want to help bring an end to human trafficking. I am looking forward to at least one more baby. I want to throw epic birthday parties and celebrations. I want to champion the idea that while I would call myself an “African American,” I can still celebrate my Caribbean, Native American, European, and Asian lineages in a way that enhances everything I do. While all of my ambitions make my head spin, they all feel strangely plausible.

That’s me! Dedra- a native of sunny California! Simple Opulence is my “space.” It’s where I blog about the beauty and joy of life, through my multi-cultured eyes! I was born and raised in the Silicon Valley before it was the Silicon Valley. Well, except for a stint 30 minutes away on a little farm in San Martin. I am married to the man of my dreams, literally. We have a 20 year old son and a 1 year old daughter, as of November 2012. Yes, I know– craziness. Talking about the girlfriend, college, diapers and bottles all in a 3 minute stretch is not uncommon in our house. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
