I am an artist.
It’s taken me many years to be able to say that out loud, let alone type it.
About 8 years ago, I sat at an all night church event watching painters express themselves in worship for the glory of God. I always wanted to do it, but with no formal training in the arts, I didn’t know if it would be possible. Thankfully, I attend a church that embraces the arts, all forms, and care more about a person’s heart towards the Lord than perfect skill. I am humbled and honored to get to be a part of the “prophetic arts ministry” using what little ability I have for His glory.
I have been creating abstract art pieces for many years now. I am a “finger painter” by nature, which means I have a hard time using a brush. I like to touch the color and feel movement as I offer God my hands and allow Him to move through me. I share some of my art on Facebook, as well as my blog here, neatly tucked away underneath the “my life in God” header. Not many people know that I paint. I was perfectly willing to stay hidden, until recently.
“Use what you’ve been given for My Glory!”
As I was praying and asking God for a focus for my 31 Days of writing with the Nester this year, I knew that I would have to pick a topic that was easier, less on the writing, because I needed to devote more time to my soon to be published ebook (more on that later!). As I was praying the Lord spoke to my heart and said, “use what you’ve been given for My Glory!”. I have been given a unique gift, and it’s time to share that gift with others.
Beginning October 1st, and all through the month of October, I will be proclaiming to the world (or at least to those of you who visit me) that “I am an artist” and praying that you are blessed and encouraged along the way! Each day will include one of my art pieces, with scripture, and a short devotional.
You will want to follow along, as every week I will be offering one of my prints as a FREE download!
I hope you will join me!
How about you? Are you an artist? We all are, in some way, shape or form. Whether you are a writer, blogger, dancer, singer, painter or some other type of artist, we have all been given a gift. Let’s use the gifts we’ve been given to glorify the Lord!
