Welcome to my home on the web. I am so thankful that you are here.

My name is Barbie (short for Barbara) and I live in Northern California.  First and foremost, I am a child of the King of Kings and have been marked by the love of a relentless God who will never stop pursuing me.  I live an imperfect life, but I know an absolutely perfect God. It is only by His grace that I am given the strength to accomplish all that I do each day.

I have been married 26 years to an amazing man and we have four beautiful children and a son-in-love who pursue the Lord passionately in worship and prayer.

(My beautiful kids and my son-in-love!)

Currently, I am unemployed and seeking God’s will for my next assignment. I have a background in church administration and legal secretarial.

If you were to sit across from me having coffee, or tea, or a soda, I would tell you that you are beautiful. I would share with you how much God loves you and how He has a good plan for your life, no matter the circumstances you are facing. I would tell you that there is nothing that will ever separate you from His love, and that His amazing grace is enough for today.

This is a place for you to come, to gather, to sip from the cup of his grace. He is waiting with open arms to meet you and to speak tenderly to your heart. My prayer is that you will find hope and encouragement here and that you receive renewed strength and grace overflowing for the days ahead.

I am an artist, and in am privileged to be able to paint during corporate worship services. You can see some of my art here. I recently published my first book, Coffee Talk With Jesus, which are letters from God to His daughters. In this space you will find posts on faith, grace, hope, encouragement and just about anything that one can learn on their journey with the Lord.

Thank you for visiting and I hope you will come back soon!

  14. I am going through a tough time at work.. I feel that my boss does not respect me and I cannot handle his anger outbursts. When it happens I feel numb and out of my body. For my work I had to travel for about 6 hours – plenty of time to cry my heart out. The night after all the tears I had a dream about God’s hidden treasures for us. In the dream I opened a box made out of tin. Inside was small papers with open spaces to fill in. I was very very excited and spoke to Jesus:. I told Him: “I know that this is from you – a gift for me!” I know that He absolutely loves me. I am a playtherapist and would like to have my own practise, but I am too afraid to take the financial risk to give up my work. Please pray for me for the right decision.

    1. Jacemien, I am sorry for the delayed response. Thank you for sharing a bit of your struggle with me. I will be praying for you in your job situation. God knows the desires of your heart and I am praying that at the right time you will see your heart’s desire fulfilled.

  15. Barbie,
I love the new site!! You’ve been such a blessing to me already in our short friendship. Thank you for your unwavering heart to share God’s Word online and to transparently share your own faith journey. (…and thanks for linking up on Mondays at my site!) You are a gift to the blogging community!

    1. Thank you Jane! I am thankful for you too, my friend. So thankful that I stumbled upon your site. Looking forward to our journey together.

  16. Barbie,
I wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your site. Thanks for the encouraging words, wisdom, God’s truth, and the week end brew. Count blessings, Kasey

  17. Hi, Barbie! I love our mutual friend, Ashley! She is so sweet! I noticed that we are also in the same (in)courage group! Friends, coffee, blogs and grace – what more can a girl ask for? :) I look forward to looking around here and getting to know you better!

    1. Hi Elizabeth! Thank you. I am still homeschooling my 8th grade girl. However, we have mutually decided to put her back in school next year. We will both be a lot happier. It’s very hard to homeschool when you work full time and when all your children have ever known is public school. I successfully put two children through public school without incident so I know it can be done.

I do have a 5th grade boy I am considering schooling. However, he has ADHD and is in speech therapy and I think he will get the help he needs if I leave him in school. Still praying about it.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you’ll return often.

  18. Hi Barbie – What a beautiful family you have! I’m so happy to come over here from Beth’s place to meet you. This is a warm and inviting blog – I am happy to find it. I also homeschool my 6 kids (the oldest is 12). It’s quite an adventure. I see that you have a 5th grader in speech (I am a speech-language pathologist – worked mostly in rehab and hospitals); I hope it’s going well for your son! Many blessing to you, Barbie – and Happy New Year!

    1. Thank you for stopping by Karin! I am currently homeschooling my 8th grade girl. It’s been a struggle to homeschool her these last two years as I work full time. All my children have ever known is public school. They’ve always done well. We will be putting her back in public school for high school. But, my 5th grade boy tells me he wants to be homeschool in at least 7th-8th grade. He’s doing much better with his stuttering. We will see what God has planned for his schooling. Blessings!

  19. Hi Barbie, I just came across your Blog and it is full of so much encouragement! I look forward to getting to know you. I have been writing for a long time but have just joined the world of Blogging. I am praying for you as you are obedient to God in the stillness. He has great things ahead for you. Have a blessed day!

  20. Barbie, so glad I stopped by. I’ll be taking a sip of your Brew now that Heather brought me over to meet you. Blessings and prayers for your homeschooling efforts. I was an elementary teacher for over 20 years (public, Catholic, Christian and I homeschooled my nephew!) and I understand the commitment it takes.

I look forward to getting to know you.

  21. Hi Barbie, I’m visiting from The Loft Link up! It seems I have heard of your blog before, so it is nice to meet you and see your heart for Jesus! Praying the Lord uses your place here to point people to Jesus and be a light on the world wide web. Thank you so much for serving Jesus through your writing.

  22. Hi! Thanks so much for linking up at The Loft! That’s a beautiful picture of your kids – all 5 of them! :) I’m so blessed to meet other Jesus-loving people on this journey. We use an online charter school for our kids, only because the laws in our state (PA) are so strict – so I can appreciate the time put in for homeschooling. Praying that God gives you the desires of your heart as you continue to follow Him! Hope to “see” you at The Loft again next week! :)

  23. Hi Barbie,
I am sure I’ve seen your picture commenting on other blogs, but never made it over to your place. I LOVE your Blog title and header photo!!! (fellow coffee fan!) So glad you joined us at #TheLoft today and I look forward to our hangout! Prayed for you as you embark on the homeschooling journey. I homeschooled the early years with my two and loved it. Then again my daughter’s junior year of HS. MUCH harder, but grace prevailed! The time we have with our kids is precious every age.

What kind of painting do you do? Do you have photos?

  24. :) So glad you joined in the link-up. Your blog is beautiful for sure, but what is especially beautiful is what you offer up here – heaping helpings of Jesus from your humble heart. Much love to you, beautiful woman of God!
