Hi and thanks for stopping by my blog.  My name is Barbie (short for Barbara) and I live in Northern California.  First and foremost, I am a child of the King of Kings and have been marked by the love of a relentless God who will never stop pursuing me.  I have captured His heart and He delights in me.  I live an imperfect life, but I know an absolutely perfect God. It is only by His grace that I am given the strength to accomplish all that I do each day.

I have been married 25 years to an amazing man and we have four beautiful children and a son-in-love who pursue the Lord passionately in worship and prayer.

(My beautiful kids and my new son-in-love!)

I work full time as a Pastoral Administrator and assist in the Children’s Equipping Center at Convergence House of Prayer.  I also just began homeschooling my 13yo full time this year and am learning to navigate this new path.  Life is busy, but I am learning to slow down and notice the beauty that God has placed all around me.

My Freshly Brewed Life is a place for you to come and savor the aroma of God’s love and a place for your soul to wake up to the promise of a new day, where His truth and love abounds, and where you will be constantly reminded of who you are, and whose you are.  I believe that each day is a freshly brewed gift from the Lord and that He has hidden treasures for us to find!  I trust that as I share my life with you, you will find rest and peace in knowing that a loving God holds you in the palm of His hand. He adores you!

Some of my passions are: Worship, the Prayer Room, Coffee, reading, writing, painting and spending time with family and friends.

Thank you for visiting and I hope you will come back soon!

Great blog Barbie.  It’s so neat to see the journeys the Lord has taken us on since we met over 20 years ago.  I often think of you guys this time of year knowing you are celebrating another year of marriage, just like us!  Thanks for your encouragement on my blog.  I really appreciate the kind words. :)

I am going through a tough time at work.. I feel that my boss does not respect me and I cannot handle his anger outbursts. When it happens I feel numb and out of my body. For my work I had to travel for about 6 hours – plenty of time to cry my heart out. The night after all the tears I had a dream about God’s hidden treasures for us. In the dream I opened a box made out of tin. Inside was small papers with open spaces to fill in. I was very very excited and spoke to Jesus:. I told Him: “I know that this is from you – a gift for me!” I know that He absolutely loves me. I am a playtherapist and would like to have my own practise, but I am too afraid to take the financial risk to give up my work. Please pray for me for the right decision.

Hi Elizabeth! Thank you. I am still homeschooling my 8th grade girl. However, we have mutually decided to put her back in school next year. We will both be a lot happier. It’s very hard to homeschool when you work full time and when all your children have ever known is public school. I successfully put two children through public school without incident so I know it can be done.

I do have a 5th grade boy I am considering schooling. However, he has ADHD and is in speech therapy and I think he will get the help he needs if I leave him in school. Still praying about it.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you’ll return often.

Hi Barbie – What a beautiful family you have! I’m so happy to come over here from Beth’s place to meet you. This is a warm and inviting blog – I am happy to find it. I also homeschool my 6 kids (the oldest is 12). It’s quite an adventure. I see that you have a 5th grader in speech (I am a speech-language pathologist – worked mostly in rehab and hospitals); I hope it’s going well for your son! Many blessing to you, Barbie – and Happy New Year!

Thank you for stopping by Karin! I am currently homeschooling my 8th grade girl. It’s been a struggle to homeschool her these last two years as I work full time. All my children have ever known is public school. They’ve always done well. We will be putting her back in public school for high school. But, my 5th grade boy tells me he wants to be homeschool in at least 7th-8th grade. He’s doing much better with his stuttering. We will see what God has planned for his schooling. Blessings!
